A competition at Supply Chain Management (the logistics company for Walmart's food products) to create a character for their new newsletter led to some interesting submissions. After whittling away at the designs the marketing team at SCM chose Cedric.
SCM had devoted a great deal of effort in team satisfaction, and incorporating some character in their monthly newsletter was a part of the plan.
He's alive, aliiive!
As with any of our children, we want to make sure they become the adult we can be proud of. Cedric had a great deal of personality, and got involved in a lot of SCM events, articles and general goings-on.
He quickly took his place as team mascot and his antics regularly brought a smile to readers of the newsletter.
Why design a mascot?
Let's be honest here, most company newsletters can be very dry, and while staff and customers may not want to act out, or even stand out, having someone like Cedric allows you to have the class clown without necessarily labeling anyone the village idiot.
Cedric was so popular, when SCM joined Exel Group they brought him along for the ride.
